Unfortunately, it seems that the masses still go about their quest for a sexy stomach in the least effective manner possible.

The fact is that typical crunches, sit-ups and side bends have almost nothing to do with truly attaining that flat stomach and sexy abs that everybody wants, but most struggle with. It’s true.

According to Mike Geary of Marlton, NJ, Certified Nutrition Specialist, Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), author of the internationally best-selling e-book, “The Truth about Six Pack Abs” and founder of TruthAboutAbs.com, most people are simply wasting their time with hundreds of crunches, sit-ups and other direct ab exercises while trying to flatten that stomach.

The real secret, says Geary, is in choosing exercises and workout combinations that stimulate the metabolism and give more of a fat-burning hormonal response, in order to more easily strip off the excess belly fat that is covering up those abs.

For losing belly fat to slim down that tummy much faster, Geary prescribes throwing the crunches out the window for the time being, and instead focusing on multi-joint full-body exercises that give you a much better calorie burn and metabolism increase. For example, exercises such as lunges, squats, mountain climbers and other similar exercises are much better for burning belly fat than ab exercises such as crunches or sit-ups.

Here’s an example of how these three exercises can be combined into a time-effective 10-15 minute workout that will blast that excess belly fat off of your abs faster than ever before and can be done right in your own living room:

Example Bodyweight Exercise Circuit

Take note of the time, or start a timer, then repeat the following circuit as many times as possible in 10-15 minutes

1. Bodyweight squats — 8 reps each set

2. Bodyweight lunges — 6 reps with each leg per set

3. Mountain climbers on floor — 30 seconds for each set

Take no rest between exercises in the circuit, and then rest 30 seconds after each rotation through the circuit. Keep repeating the circuit for 10-15 minutes straight. If you’re a beginner that never exercises, just go for only 5 minutes for the first week or two. For everyone else, try starting at 10 minutes for the first week, and slowly work up to 15 minutes of these high intensity circuits thereafter.

For some, a 15 minute workout might not sound like much, but this type of high intensity combination workout is guaranteed to be more effective than the typical waste of time abs machines and ineffective ab exercises. Bye, bye belly fat.

Exercise Descriptions

1. Bodyweight squats — Start with a foot stance slightly wider than shoulder width. Initiate the squat by pushing the hips back, and then squatting down until your thighs are approximately parallel to the ground. Then push yourself back up to the starting position. Important tip: always think about “sitting back” into a squat as opposed to just “squatting down”.

2. Bodyweight Lunges — Step forward with one leg at a time. Take a long enough step so that at the bottom of the lunge, your shin is vertical and your thigh is parallel to the floor. Alternate legs and repeat.

3. Floor mountain climbers — Get down into a pushup position on hands and toes. Quickly start alternating your legs by shuffling your feet in and out. Your knees will come in close to your elbows on each rep. Move swiftly. This is meant to be a fast paced exercise. Keep moving for the recommended time period (30 seconds each set).

Having six pack abs is every man’s dream but the dream is difficult to turn to reality unless you have a strong will and are adequately motivated to achieve your ambition. So the answer to the question: how to get six pack abs is easy to answer – it lies within you and your determination.

However difficult it might be, it must be said that getting six pack abs is not completely impossible, provided you back up your nutritional intake with the right types of six pack abs workouts. Given below is a simple and generalized guide which needs to be followed diligently for a minimum 3 months to get visible results:

The right nutrition: This is perhaps the most important part of getting started with your program on how to get six pack abs. you might have the greatest looking abs but if it is layered with fat, it would hardly be visible. When you are seeking answers to how to get six pack abs, this could be a great deterrent.

The recommended diet is to break your daily food intake into 5 or 6 smaller meals rather than 3 big meals. This means that in the 20-minute abs work out session, you must try to include sets of 15 or 20 repetitions. Take it easy while you are doing the six pack abs workouts, or you run the risk of pulling muscle, etc.

- Last but never the least important point to remember in your six pack abs workouts is that you should never over do any exercise even if you have the requisite energy for doing it. it is necessary for you to know that to get six pack abs it takes a little time and you can not achieve this in a hurry, however hard you try.

What Is The Best Abdominal Exercise For Belly Fat Loss?

\”What is the best ab workout for losing stomach fat?\” The answer to this age old question is…

None! Ab workouts on their own do not create enough of a metabolic response in your body to create fat loss.

I often get asked what the best types of exercises and workouts are for losing stubborn stomach fat in order to bring out visible six pack abs. The problem is that most people with excess stomach fat trying to uncover their abs are searching for some \”miracle abs workout\” that is going to rip the fat off their abs in no time.

They are actually going about this dilemma entirely the wrong way! The truth is you just don\’t lose stomach fat by doing abdominal exercises.

The problem is that focusing most of your time and effort on abs workouts and abdominal exercises to try to flatten your stomach and bring out 6-pack abs is simply wasting your time. When you could be doing the correct workout programs that will actually reduce your body fat permanently.

If I were to give you an answer as to what the best exercises are for losing excess stomach fat, my answer would include full body exercises such as the following:

presses and pulls, clean & presses, various forms of squats, deadlifts, lunges, snatches, swings, mountain climbers, sprinting, etc.

These types of full body exercises would include a much higher percentage of the exercises I would design instead of abs exercises directly targeting the midsection. The way you combine those full body exercises into a planned workout that maximizes your metabolism is also very important.

Don\’t get me wrong… I do recommend a certain amount of exercises that directly target the abs and core, but these are only a small fraction of the programs I design for my clients as your time is better spent focusing on the full body exercises that stimulate the greatest hormonal and metabolic changes within the body. In addition, a side-effect of working out using mostly full body multi-joint combo exercises are that you indirectly work your entire midsection even though you are not specifically targeting the abs.

Keep in mind that the most important factor for losing belly fat to see your abs is actually in the nutrition arena. No matter how hard you workout, if your diet is full of junk, then your abdominals will be covered with ugly fat. Nutrition is without a doubt the \”king of getting a six pack\”.

So let\’s clear this up for good…

Stop wasting so much of your time focusing on crunches, situps, leg raises, and all those silly worthless \”ab contraptions\” in your efforts to try to develop 6-pack abs. Instead focus on high intensity full body lifts using combination multi-joint exercises all strategically combined into highly effective fat loss workouts. Couple that with a healthy diet full of natural unprocessed whole foods as close to their natural state as possible, and those elusive six-pack abdominals will be yours in no time!
