Actually you should eat two snacks just make them a lean protein like natural almonds.
I'm following the TNT program that has some great recipes, I think they also have one called the Abs diet. You can read more about it at www.menshealth.com/tnt
You can find recipes their as well.
We've had meatballs, almond crusted chicken, beef kabobs and rosemary pork loin just to name a few.
References :
Okay you only want carbs before and after your workout and you can have some slow releasing carbs in the morning like wholemeal bread etc..

try to eat six small meals a day each containing protein

if you need extra protein get yourself some protein shakes

Thats pretty basic but go to www.menshealth.co.uk and look through some of the articles and forums. The guys really know what there talkin about so you'll be gettin good advice rather than people on here who really dont know anything about what there commenting on. Good luck mate
References :
Eat 6 times a day. If you're going to work out.
Sample Day:
Breakfast: Oatmeal w/ raisins & almond slivers w/ protein shake
3hrs later: 2 low fat string cheese and an apple
lunch: Turkey pita with mustard & veggies. instead of chips eat sugar snap peas
3 hrs later: Protein shake w/ favorite fruit and skim milk mixed in.
dinner: make sure you eat a carb and a protein and as many veggies as you'd like.
3 hrs later: Protein shake or any other protein.

This keeps your metabolism up and gives you TONS of energy.
You'll drop weight fast, too.
make sure that daily you're eating 6 portions of carbs, 6 portions of protein, and 10 cups of water.
Any cardio is great and if you can get some weight training in, it would be better.
References :
Every morning I eat three egg whites and one whole egg scrambled with spinach and red onion. I top it with one slice of fat free American cheese and put it on a whole wheat wrap. High in protein and low fat.
